Jinpeng (JP) Wang

Dr. Jinpeng (JP) Wang (王金鹏) is the co-founder and CTO of Aptitude Medical Systems, a biotechnology startup. Dr. Wang received his B.Eng. and M.Eng in Electrical Engineering from Tsinghua University in China and his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from UC Santa Barbara. His advisor was Professor H. T. Soh. He received the Irving T. Ho Memorial Scholarship in 2005.

An engineer by training, Dr. Wang has focused his career on applying engineering principles to build disruptive innovation in the health care industries. In 2011, Dr. Wang invented the Particle Display aptamer discovery platform that serves as the foundation of Aptitude technology, and co-founded Aptitude with 2 colleagues. Particle Display is a screening-based aptamer discovery technology that generates nucleic acid aptamers with unprecedented affinity and specificity - a type of synthetic affinity reagents that can outperform antibodies in many diagnostic and therapeutic applications. As Aptitude's CTO, Dr. Wang shapes the company's technical vision and R&D strategy, while overseeing internal R&D programs, establishing R&D collaborations, and leading the team of scientists.
