Shijing (James) Yao (姚詩景) is currently a PhD student in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences at the University of California, Berkeley. He received his BS and MS degree in Electrical Engineering from Tsinghua University and UC Berkeley in 2008 and 2010, respectively. He received the Irving T. Ho Memorial Scholarship in 2007.


His main focus and interests include statistical learning, Big Data and its applications in mobile internet, internet of things and finance. He is particularly passionate about disruptive innovations through technological breakthroughs and business ventures.


Shijing worked at semiconductor companies (OmniVision and KLA-Tencor) in Silicon Valley from 2010 to 2013, where he gained in-depth professional experiences in high-tech industries. He holds leadership positions in entrepreneurship organizations in Bay Area, such as China America Innovation Network (CHAIN) and Silicon Valley Tsinghua Network (SVTN). He is responsible for business development, partnership management, marketing and event operation.
